What I really think is that Iran has not been negotiating in good faith for over 3 years now. The IAEA has caught them in boldfaced lies wrt their nuclear research.

The difference between Pakistan and Iran is that Iran poses a direct threat of proliferation, whereas Pakistan has been controlled and their dictator is our ally. I don't like it that we have to ally ourselves with dictators, but a benign dictator does not pose a threat to the American people, at least in the short term.

So we have to make practical tradeoffs, which means we go after the hardcases like Iran and N.K. first and use whatever allies we have in the region to help us exert pressure.

This is no brainer stuff. Not sure what the dispute is.
