Citibank Announces First Major Accomplishment in New Partnership with SAP
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 3, 1997--
Working with TSI International Software and SAP AG, Citibank is developing the first standardized interfaces to integrate banking and accounting systems
Citibank today announced the certification of the first standardized banking interface between SAP R/3 and Citibanking(SM), Citibank's global electronic banking platform. R/3 is an enterprise-wide system built on client server technology.
Standardized interfaces eliminate many labor-intensive, manually based operations, thereby drastically reducing processing time, shortening implementation time and lowering the ultimate costs to customers of installing systems.
``Global corporations are increasingly looking to improve the quality of their services through automation and standardization. Providing standardized, automated linkages such as those offered by our certified interface and Mercator will help them achieve this goal,'' explained Colin Klipin, Managing Director of Citibank's Global Cash Management Services. ``Citibank's certification will give customers confidence that the system is reliable and compatible with future SAP R/3 releases.''
``We are very glad about the successful certification of the interface between Citibanking and R/3,'' said Dr. Martin Hofmann, manager of SAP's Complementary Software Program Europe. ``The certification will not only serve our mutual customers through the provision of a stable interface. It is also a step further towards a close and valuable partnership with Citibank, one of the largest banks in the world.''
Citibank also announced that it has selected TSI Software's Mercator for R/3 as the secured accounts payable interface between SAP R/3 and Citibanking. Citibank will use TSI's Mercator mapping software to translate information from a standard SAP format (Idoc format) into a format that can be imported into Citibanking. In addition, the Mercator approach will provide users with the capability of making third party payments.
Mercator for R/3 is a middleware solution that is certified by SAP for Application Link Enabling (ALE). ALE is SAP's strategic architecture for distributing R/3 functionality across the enterprise.
``We are thrilled that Citibank has chosen Mercator,'' said Connie Galley, President and CEO of TSI. ``By choosing Mercator for R/3, Citibank will offer its customers increased value and service by providing a standardized interface to their R/3 system.''
Citibank delivers cash management services to more countries than any other bank. With branches in 98 countries, Citibank delivers an array of innovative, integrated cash management solutions to corporations and financial institutions around the world.
