Thanks for posting that about Mobiles, Jim. I just got through with the Demo. It is impressive what they can do. The picture scrolling and zooming demo reminded me of a similar demonstration given by Steve Jobs during the recent MacWorld SF. He was demonstrating H.264, a video codec to be included in Quicktime 7. This snippet lifted from apple.com

QuickTime 7 features an ultra-efficient new video codec called H.264. H.264 delivers stunning video quality at remarkably low data rates, so you see crisp, clear video in much smaller files. Chosen as the industry-standard codec for 3GPP (mobile multimedia), HD-DVD and Blu-ray, H.264 represents the future of next-generation, high-definition DVD playback. Numerous broadcast, cable and videoconferencing groups consider H.264 the video codec of choice for their deployments. To learn more about H.264, visit the H.264 technology page or consult the H.264 FAQ. [Bolded for emphasis]

Also worthy of consideration is the possibility that Apple is in the middle of another design chain project to top the iPod with an iPod cum mobile phone product. There were some rumblings that Motorola was a codeveloper in the project.

This article gives a great deal of insight into the design chain collaboration that produced the original iPod. Though Synaptics is not mentioned in the article, it is worth reading for a look at the process and Apple's role in developing new products. designchain.com
