Earlie, I've heard about a new generation of diesels coming to VWs -- starting at "averages" of 37-38 MPG, with expectations well beyond that in the future. Have you tuned into the gist of this? A highly efficient diesel would obviate the need for 10k worth of batteries on a hybrid.
