I suspect the problem in China/North Korea/South Korea/Taiwan/Japan is that South Korea has got LOTS of CDMA and the others are jealous. The South Koreans are whining because they have to pay a small royalty [5% or so] to QUALCOMM. They are also whining because China has only 2% royalty to pay for sales inside China. Japan is using W-CDMA which isn't available in South Korea so they are speaking a different language. Taiwan has got not much CDMA at all.

If we can just get them all using CDMA, with multimode devices so they can use the same spectral language, then they'll all live happily ever after [or until H5N1 gets on the loose, whichever comes first].
