Morality is any system of rights and wrongs. We do legislate a system of right and wrong conduct based upon principles defined in our constitution. This system is subject to adjudication via our system, and as circumstance indicates. Ideas may be fixed, however, circumstance is always unique on a moment to moment basis and the perspectives on circumstance are always individual.

Yes, but the 'morality' of a society is some blending of different 'moralities' of its citizens. My point is that the American system is great and unique because of its ability to include a good number of diverse 'moralities' and still maintain its basic framework. The framework does not itself moralize, but rather provides a means of evolving while still preserving the basic inalienable rights of all citizens.

When a group attempts to restrict the society morality to its own vision, it attacks the framework. When a group proposes an amendment to the framework that itself attacks the very basis of inalienable citizen rights, it attempts to undo the work of the founding fathers. When a group persistenting attacks judicial rulings that uphold the spirit of the framework, it shows no respect for the spirit of the founding fathers.

My point is that when a group attempts to defeat basic tenets of the Constitution - say, writ of habeaus corpus, or equal protection - they demonstrate more than a simple ignorance of how America works. They demonstrate the same disregard for the American way of life as our enemies, and play right into their hands.
