Ted, Yes, IMO there are multiple reasons............because he was a little too volatile for the residents of Iowa, because his message was little more confronting and controversial than the Dems liked and because he was shorter than Bush.
Well, the "Dukakis" factor is there, but that's rather petty, don't you think? (No offense, of course.)
Anyway, I'll focus on reasons #1 and #2. It's no secret that the Dems were nervous about what they felt to be a loose cannon. But now with Dean as head of the DNP, do you think those fears will be eliminated one way or another? Not a chance. Hence my theory of internal strife among Democrats. It's not exactly wishful thinking on my part, just more of an observation. It might not even be a bad thing for the Dems in the long run, if you really think about it.
What I find most interesting is that I knew the Dems would start refocusing its ideology back toward the left, given that their last two attempts at "moderation" failed. But what I didn't expect was that the movement is being led by Howard Dean. Personally, I expected Hillary to do just that, but she's now focused on selling herself to the "red states."
