What was remarkable about Clinton is that he got the rate at which the national debt rises to slow considerably.

Uh? I thought he actually reversed it. We paid down debt in the last year of his admin. No?

To be honest, I don't know. Someone posted a chart on the nat. debt since WW II but I didn't check it that closely.
