Unfortunately for this view, Bill Clinton quite clearly declared that Social Security (SS) was in crisis, and he was supported by the entire Democrat establishment. It is disingenuous to now suddenly claim SS is fine simply because a Republican wishes to do something about the crisis both Democrats and Republicans have claimed has existed for years on end. I think SS ought to be abolished altogether and that the current debate is flawed at its roots. But I think the Democrat position is purely one of dishonor and as such ought not be entertained until it is reconciled with the prior Democrat view. There is too much doubletalk in Washington.
