It’s Been a Long Time Coming…
Gonna Be a Long, Long Time Gone
Csny

I’m uncertain as to timing here – would it have been better if I saw you just as you exploded, or has the advent of time provided you with perspective and insight drawn from yourself rather than sermonized by me.

Your volatile temper, and the extent to which you would indulge it, has always been a concern of mine. When you mount the Red Pony of rage you will rampage more that most, and more unpredictably.

This is not an uncommon thing in children, in fact it is a clearly identified growth stage, sometimes called the “terrible twos” although it seemed more evident in the “testy threes” to me. During this stage, children lose their unselfconsciousness about nudity and body functions, develop more intense and differentiated relationships among their peers (generally along the gender line) and throw serious tantrums aimed at resisting parental authority. This is all part of the process of self-realization, the final psychic break from the deeply held belief that their personages are God, and that the world is at their command.
