I guess you missed the part above where it says Jaafari leads one of two religious parties to win the election. You say he's pro American. When have religious parties controlled the gov't in the US? I know, I know the GOP talks about it all the time but its still a secular party. When has a religious party run a candidate here in the US? I know, I know....Bush is a religious guy but he is still secular in much of his outlook. Do you understand that the Shia are the most conservative of Muslims. Wahhabism is a bit of an aberration among Sunnis. Most Sunnis tend to be less conservative than Wahhabis and less religious. However, the Shias have always been conservative.......they broke with the Sunnis because the Sunnis weren't religious enough for them. They have a very strict interpretation of Islam. Oh hell, just watch one of the video clips where they whip themselves bloody.....maybe that will give you to understand who is taking over in Iraq. I mean their reaction to winning the election was to whip themselves with chains.....of course they had clothes on so it wasn't as so bad. In Iraq among the Shia........they call that religious devotion........here we call it S&M. The Shia strict attention to religious detail scares the Sunnis; that's why Saddam was secular. The Sunnis had reason to be worried. Now we do too. ted
