Definitely grocery stores are cheaper for the main course if you buy high volume and freeze them, otherwise, it isn't always so.

I bought big fat center cut pork chops yesterday for $1.99 lb.
Not on sale they will hit you for $4.59 lb for them.
Sometimes there is a better sale than $1.99 but that is well in my buy range.

I buy cheapo frozen pizza too. 4 for $10.
If you like garbage those taste ok.

I am not fond of the quality of ground beef. I bet a grinder would pay for itself really quickly and you could probably make really lean burgers for way less than the stores charge. Have not done it though.

The price of deli meats are absurb but people line up to buy them. When ham is on sale you can get a but half for about the price of a couple center cut slices. Yes there is a lot of throw away bone but at .89 or so lb on sale it is a good deal.

Price of ribeye steaks is usually absurd so I do not buy those. Occassionally they will have a standing rib roast on sale for $3.98 lb and then I will buy one but still not often. They will slice those for you for free. Instead of paying $8 lb for rib steaks have them slice a rib roast if you really want steaks.

Lots of ways to save on meat. Chicken is a real bargain when it is on sale.... Yet I see people waste tons of money buying boneless skinless chicken breasts for $6/lb. Senseless.
Wait for chicken breasts at .69-.89 and take the skin and bones off yourself. It is a trivial matter if you really want it off. Do it yourself and price is probably .89-.99 lb or less (1/6th the price).
