Valdas Adamkus has a problem. The 79-year-old president of Lithuania has been invited -- personally, persistently, even threateningly -- by Russian President Vladimir Putin to an event that he really, really doesn't think he should attend: the May 9 celebrations in Moscow marking the 60th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Adolf Hitler.

A 79YO is old enough to have witnessed thousands of Lithuanian men, women and children being marched to death chambers in a special SS camp...(I think it was camp "11"...will look it up later.)

He is also old enough to have lived through the severely oppressive regime that replaced the SS in Lithuania, namely Stalin's Storm troopers.

I give the guy credit for standing up and saying, "Hey Putin, this is not party material for Lithuanians."
