Take another survey, rely on sources that do just a tad more work than simply asking 988 Iraqi households for a number (like IBC, which is hardly biased toward the administration), petition the government to release the statistics you imagine they keep, do whatever you want.

But the fact is there's no need to "dispute their claim" - it disputes itself.

No reputable statistician would represent these results as proof of anything beyond the notion that the real number is likely no lower than the low five figures - in other words, about what IBC reports. The trumpeting of a "100k deaths" result demonstrates a very low degree of integrity and implies a strong political motivation to the way the results were reported. If you don't understand that, you need an ethics class, not a statistics one.
