Aus, Intel knows that the market for NAND is expanding more rapidly than that for NOR, and that profits from NOR will be comparatively limited. SanDisk is concentrating not only on the most profitable type of flash memory but on the higher end of that particular market, where margins are also higher. It's interesting to me that Intel, an efficient producer of microprocessors, has never been able to crack the retail market, though they have tried with various products. SanDisk, on the other hand, has managed to be both a manufacturer and retailer, with good success in each activity.
