Neither defending nor prosecuting, neither justifying nor condemning. Investigating the issue dispassionately, looking for the underlying assumptions which fuel the responses, trying to separate passion from rationality.

I recognise that pedophilia is viewed today with the same disgust that homosexuality was viewed 100 years ago, at a time when sexual activity of 12 year olds was not unusual nor condemned. I'm interested in the philosophical reasons for this shift, why we have moved our point of view, and whether there is any underlying core principle of nature invovled or whether both approaches are simply societally based.
