Well, I'll tell you why gay people choose to be gay, if you can tell me why some people choose to get tattoos all over their body. Or maybe you can tell me why some people choose to be terrorists, while the majority of us are peaceful? Fringe groups exists within humanity. As the song goes, "People are strange." I'm not surprised by any of the choices people make. By the way, the estimates that I've seen are closer to 10% of the population are gay.
