When these rich guys flame out, I have to figure it isn't just greed. They already have enough money to live well the rest of their life. Then they go out and blow it all up.

I would say it's more like immaturity, a need for attention, a need to prove they are above the normal rules, etc.

Or just pure self-destructive stupidity. All plausible explanations for what we saw here.

Does anyone know if Jonathan Daws was a hedge fund manager in the Dallas area? I met an SI member down their once who sounds like the same guy but I can't find any more info on Daws.
