Dr.s are just starting to be less tight with the pain medication. Studies have shown that people in severe pain are less likely to heal in a normal amount of time and the same study showed that the people taking stronger amounts of pain medicine for a short period of time were less likely to become addicted to them then people having to endure pain for longer periods because of inadequate medication.
