Waldy, it is my understanding that patents may not, by law, be awarded to a company. They are always awarded to one or more individuals.

Not to worry. I sincerely doubt that John would have announced the awarding of the patent if it were his intent to conceal things from shareholders. I communicate with John from time to time. He has always responded quickly and, I believe, with candor. I would encourage you, and all other interested parties, to email or call him whenever you have concerns. No need to raise red flags here in public if your questions can be thoroughly answered in private.
