Bill -

Mossberg is right. Switching isn't for everybody. As recently as last week, I advised a client to get a Dell notebook instead of an iBook or PowerBook, even though she uses a Mac at home. (Yes, I know. Apple's market share just lost one CPU point. Sorry.)

Why? Because her main purpose for the notebook will be to dictate patient notes using voice-recognition software. The software that is available to Mac users in that area is sub-par.

Apparently, Tiger may fix that by providing system-level tools that developers can use. But the woman needs to start doing this now, and I could not advise her to wait for something that may take several months to appear.
