Not too clear on the separation of church and state issue are you? What was being discussed here is the legal definition of marriage and the benefits and risks involved with redefining the legal definition of marriage.

What was not being discussed is what gays do or do not do, or what religious people think about that or don't think about it. Totally separate discussion topic. I hope that helps to clear up some of your confusion. ... However, I am making no guarantees.
