If for no other reason than "It's against the law" it shouldn't have happened..

Before I discuss that position, I need to ask whether you think it only applies to this situation, or whether you think it is an absolute and universal rule.

If you're applying it only to this situation, I agree.

If you're positing that as a universal rule to cover all situations, we have some discussing to do. (I do believe that sometimes things should happen even though they are against the law. My first case in point will be Rosa Parks, who in fact did something against the law that I think SHOULD have happened.)
