In the "follow the money vein", Campbell doesn't seem to have a huge financial motivation you implied and he is emeritus faculty at Cornell. I wouldn't call any academic a huckster MERELY because they have a side business. That would make almost all academics hucksters, which I don't think is true.

If you want to follow the money, look at the relationship between corn products and obesity. I know people who are made sick by corn (which is really only an American thing - they don't eat much of it at all in the UK and EU) There is REAL money in corn sweeteners. Try to find a product without it!
