Now that would be a novel idea. Ensure that teachers know about what they teach. MAny teachers can be offended by the desire to test them. There are others who would be quickly changing careers. That would be a good thing.

Hmmmm......ignorance leads to bad conclusions. I am applying to grad schools as we post........I want to be a teacher. One of the requirements of my applications has been that you have 50-70 credit hours in what's called an endorsement; that is, the area in which you plan to teach. Certain courses within the endorsement are required; the rest can be electives related to the subject you will teach. Just for the record..........50-70 credit hours is roughly 15-25 courses.

Given that body of study, I don't think any teacher would have a problem passing the kind of test that you suggest above. The truth is teachers are highly educated for the pay they receive and the kind of work they do........which makes you wonder why a good basketball makes over a cool million per year while a good teacher often makes less than 50K. Where is the equity in the capitalist system of economy?
