We can change our demographics via our immigration policies if that's something we want to do.

Theoretically.

But we don't know now what the pool of potential immigrants will look like in 2050. Betting on your solution is a huge risk, one the Germans, Spanish, Italians, and the French have already gambled on and lost.

Mexico will likely be a good source, but the Southwest is already hugely Hispanic. Do we want to continue to "import" Hispanics to replace our Heinz 57 population? I don't know, I have nothing against Hispanics--vbg--but importing mostly Hispanics is a difficult policy question, one that can have profound implications.

There will definitely be an excess of Muslims available for immigration. I know how I feel about that--no way.

The ideal immigration policy is one which would lead to importation of migrants in more or less the same ratio as our current population. Because Europe won't have an excess of population to export, it is improbable that we will be able to import from Europe.

Your immigration solution sounds good at first, but has a lot of problems on closer examination.
