You are right about the new strain perhaps not being a new strain. The AIDS lobby used to use new strain talk as a way to create some fear in order to get more funding. And of course there are responsible gay folks out there fighting the good fight. But within the gay community there is a rather large minority of folks who recklessly use crystal meth to highten sex with multiple partners at sex parties without using condoms. These folks are "recklessly endangering" not only the entire gay community but the hetero community as well, especially black women who are getting AIDS in large number due to the apparent bisexual proclivities of some nominally heter black men. Finally, finally the responsible part of the gay community are demanding that these practices stop. But believe it or not there are still some in the gay community who call this a witch hunt and an infringement of personal freedom--that is the freedom to give someone else AIDS. Mike
