Whether it does or not, neither speaker offered proof for his claim. The two have that in common.

Re the evidence, from the discussion on this thread, I'd say that the matter is controversial.

I would imagine, too, that women mathematicians and US troops were similarly struck by the remarks about them. A disinterested party might judge one more offensive than the other but the affected parties would see a blow to their essences.

I could give you oranges and tangerines, maybe, but not apples. Seems to me they have much more in common than not and that the differences are in the details.
