I did some more listening to the liberal radio shows the other day.

One show was called "Unfiltered". It was just a bunch of Bush bashing. Every statement was just about how bad Bush was at least for the few minutes before I got to board of it. I then switched to Alex Bennet's show. He argued that we shouldn't have federal individual income tax. That all the incomes tax money should come from a higher corporate tax. He doesn't seem to realize (or care if he does realize) that businesses are primarily tax collectors not payers, in the sense that the cost of the tax will normally get passed along to their employees (lower wages or less employment) or their suppliers (who also have to pass it along), or to their customers (higher prices). None of his callers recognized this problem either, but one caller did bring up the idea that if we raised corporate tax rates that we would push the companies to operate from other countries. Mr. Bennet's "solution" for this was to raise high tariffs and get the money when they import the goods. So you get high coporate taxes and protectionism. It seems like he either thinks this won't hurt anyone or he just wants to bash the companies. Its not clear which. Either way he misses the impact this would have on the economy. He also misses the fact that if businesses do leave the country they could move to Canada or Mexico and be protected by NAFTA.

Then I switched to a conservative channels. There was a couple of conservatives that arguably where not taking the normal conservative line. That morning it was the Tony Snow Show but Tony wasn't on, they had a replacement that day. He was arguing against the Patriot Act. Basically slamming it. It was short on detail (or maybe the detail was before or after the period where I was listening) but it certainly got the guest host's opinion across. Then last night I was listening to Micheal Reagan. He was partially agreeing with Hillary Clinton's statement about giving convicted felons the vote after they served their time. He didn't want to give the vote back to people who commit severe violent crimes, but he thought that people who commit lesser felonies should eventually get t to vote again (and also the legal right to own and carry firearms). This morning other conservative political commentators predictably opposed Hillary's statement. What's your opinion on this?
