<<Dr Quack thinks you can cure cancer by eating his food.>>
Dr. Campbell is not arguing that you can cure cancer by eating his food. This is a good example of the desperation of Bill's fallacious argument, however.
Dr. Campbell is arguing that the worldwide rates of cancer and other degenerative diets are closely related to high consumption of meat, eggs and dairy products, and that in western societies where people derive a lot of calories from these foods, and eat a high percentage of meat protein, this diet is destructive to good health and longevity. These conclusions are drawn from decades of research in many countries, comparing dietary practices to disease rates.
To reiterate, vegans and vegetarians eat mostly locally produced, sustainable fruits and vegetables, and buy foods like nuts and tofu to provide protein. There is no big industry in these foods. To assert to is patently false and misleading. Although researchers and scientists do sometimes start companies that are related to their research, they will never get rich selling raw pine nuts or something.
Strangely, free enterprise, the battle cry of the right, suddenly becomes a crime when someone who is not a true believer practices it in an ethical manner (unlike Monsanto). Talk about hypocrisy! |
