I disagree with the notion that the so-called counterculture represents a threat to Western Civilization. In my estimation, it is simply a reflection of Meyer's idealized notion of what Western Civilization really is. And it is mostly a phenomenon of youth which turns more conservative as it ages.

I think the recent election was a sign that this threat to Western Civilization is really a bit of a bugbear.

Meyer's notion seems to be that only the GOP represents Western Civilization, a notion I heartily think is wrong.

He's bang-on with the demographic angle, though.
