Tell President Bush and Congress to Stop Pressuring Canada to Eliminate Prescription Drug Exportation The Lives and Health of 2,000,000 Americans are at Risk
As a direct result of pressure by the Bush Administration and the pharmaceutical industry, the Canadian government has recently drafted new regulations that may prevent Canadian pharmacies from filling prescriptions for Americans.
These changes to Canadian regulations could be passed and implemented in early 2005 and are the direct result of pressure by the Bush Administration and the pharmaceutical industry to eliminate drug importation from Canada.
Over 2 million Americans now safely purchase prescription drugs from licensed Canadian mail order pharmacies at average savings of over 40%. The lives and health of these 2 million Americans may well be at risk, because of the undue influence of The Bush Administration and the pharmaceutical industry on Canadian officials. Many suspect that the US Agriculture Department’s ending the 19 month beef blockade of Canadian beef, in spite of new Canadian Mad Cow discoveries, is simply “tit for tat” for shutting off the supply of affordable safe prescriptions for Americans.
Canadian mail order pharmacies do not financially harm the drug companies, nor does current importation create a supply shortage in Canada. Personal importation should be permitted to continue operating without threat from U.S. political and corporate interests.
Many trusted Canadian pharmacies are setting up contingency plans to import from Europe. It is most American’s preference to continue getting safe medication from Canada, but their ability to do so is in jeopardy.
