John: <I consider myself a true liberal> Here in Canada (and in the UK where I'm from originally), there are political parties that identify themselves with the name Liberal -- and I've never associated with them!! These labels become meaningless once they get attached to "movements" or parties. The National Socialists were never socialist! Canada's Progressive Conservatives were a contradiction in terms! Most Democrats are very afraid of true democracy! Canada's Liberals are far from liberal, although they talk a good line. Bobby Dylan parodied it beautifully back in the 60's... "I'm liberal, to a degree... I want everyone to be free... ...But if you think I'd let that there Castro move in next door and marry my daughter... You've gotta be kidding... I wouldn't do that for all the bombs in Cuba!" This is from memory from over 30 years ago, so please correct as needed! Regards, Howy
