What does he mean, "when?" Black immigrants have been doing better than the locals for years.
OUT OF AFRICA [Mark Krikorian] - The Corner A story on increasing African immigration in today's NY Times nytimes.com helps illuminate black Americans' conflicted views on the issue. On the one hand, many black intellectuals view mass immigration as payback: "Basically, people are coming to reclaim the wealth that's been taken from their countries," said the director of one black research group. This view has helped Hispanic groups, in particular, to dupe blacks into supporting open borders. On the other hand, the concern lingers (certainly among ordinary black Americans) that, as one scholar says, "Historically, every immigrant group has jumped over American-born blacks. The final irony would be if African immigrants did, too." Politically, immigration restriction will become politically unstoppable when an articulate, sober black political figure takes it up, as did every prominent black figure in American history. |
