National Media Teams with GTE mainStreet(TM) in Interactive Television Venture; Will Bring Programming to Cable Homes and Hotel Rooms
PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- National Media Corporation (NYSE:NM) today announced that it will provide infomercial programming to GTE mainStreet(TM), which has begun testing infomercials over its interactive television systems to cable subscribers in Florida and Southern California and to hotel guests at a test hotel site, the Boston Harbor Hotel in Boston, Mass.
GTE mainStreet and National Media have reformatted two of National Media's most popular infomercials, the ``Larry North Great American Slim-Down'' and ``Bruce Jenner Zero 'G' Strider'' shows -- for viewing over GTE's interactive video platform.
Viewers are able to watch full-motion infomercials as well as explore infomercial product sites on an interactive basis. GTE's mainStreet provides more than 95 interactive video services -- including games, community events, and travel and investment information -- to subscribers of GTE Americast cable TV programming in the Tampa Bay area of Florida and Ventura County, north of Los Angeles, Calif. GTE's Concierge Network uses the mainStreet platform to provide hotel guests with a single point of entry to television and cable broadcasts, pay-per-view and guest services.
