Speaking of which, it's raining cats and dogs here again, and every night on the local news, I see reports of mudslides threatening and/or wrecking million dollar homes, such as those in Anaheim Hills, Mission Viejo, and Laguna Beach.
I know.........I am worried about my building in Hollywood. There is a point in S. CA where the ground gets totally saturated and all hell breaks loose. You are at that point now. From what I've heard, LA has gotten 29 inches of rain since 1 January.
Like the newscasters, I too am thinking, "Geez, what a loss," but then I wonder whether the news is paying way too much attention to this. Obviously if the home owners can afford such luxurious homes in the first place, they can easily afford to recover and move on with their lives. (Either that, or they deserve the consequences of not planning ahead.) So where's the story?
I feel sorry for them.....I would not wish what they are going through on my worst enemy. At the same time, its not news that the S. CA earth slides and shakes on a regular basis. When you build on cliffs or hills that are nothing more than clay, you are asking for trouble. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to stop them..........the view is everything in S. CA.
