I shop at Wal-Mart. I shop there because they have the lowest prices. A particular place may have an item on sale cheaper, but for day-in, day-out low prices, you can't beat Wal-Mart.

I could shop at local small stores instead. Their employees don't have health insurance at all (Wal-mart has a group plan, but the employees must pay for it) and make less or the same as the Wal-Mart employees.

So, if I chose to shop at local small stores, I'd be helping local small store owners to stay in business, but it would do nothing for their employees, who would probably do better at Wal-Mart. It would cost me considerably more money every year, I'm sure hundreds of dollars. Unless I'm missing something, I think I'll be shopping at Wal-Mart!
