The opposition, came from both sides.

I didn't say there was no opposition from Republicans or independents, or from people who thought it was too expensive. I said most of the Democratic opposition to it was because it was supposedly not generous enough.

After the reps passed a bill that today (heaven only knows what we'll learn tomorrow) is estimated to cost nearly 2X what bush said it would, to say that a democratic bill would cost more is, well frankly stupid and irritating.

It may be irritating but it is most likely true.
