I think it is very sweet that my post had any effect at all on your dinner choice. That made me feel really happy. Of course it is up to you to decide if you throw another ham in your shopping cart after the gory photos of pigs in agony fade from your mind, but from your post you seem to be a sensitive and thinking person, so perhaps you will reflect some more and become curious and do some of your own research on factory farming and decide whether it is for you. At least your wife does not like ribs! That is somewhat encouraging.

Personally, I think it is kind of hard to go from finding out new things to retreating back into old habits, but that is just me.

Muslims don't eat pigs, and George Orwell thought they were very intelligent, as is evidenced by Animal Farm. Most of the world eats a semi-vegetarian diet anyway; my favorite vegetarian ethnic cuisine is Indian. But Lebanese the similar Middle Eastern cuisines with pita bread and hummus and falafel and wonderful vegetarian stews are awfully good. Vegetarian Japanese food is very good too.
