There are people working to make animal slaughter more humane, and that is certainly a worthy goal, but there is nothing wrong with putting the focus on getting people to stop eating meat. After all, this is an issue of belief for Grainne, as I understand it, and she believes people should not eat meat. You might as well say to a Christian, would it not be more effective to put your primary emphasis on the Koran? One believes what they believe. In Grainne's case I think she believes that the combination of meat being bad for you, coupled with the pain animals suffer when killed, and their terrible living conditions, and the environmental damage that occurs when they are raised (since we all know how much grain goes in to a pound of beef, much more efficient to eat the grain), all make the eating of meat the wrong choice.

You may have missed some of the other reasons Grainne has given for not eating meat.
