The US is not the only country that employs the death penalty. In addition to other countries where the death penalty is politically sanctioned, you have the Arab world allowing the barbarity of fathers, uncles or brothers murdering family women for infidelity, premarital sex or being unfortunate enough to be raped by some @sshole. That's a cultural/religious thing. Is your point that the Judeo Christian history of the US makes it evil? If so, I'd suggest that you take a closer look at barbaric practices elsewhere.
