Gottfried,

Not to start an ethnic discussion - but just let me say that much of South Central Texas was actually settled by Germans. I have close relatives who live in New Braunfels. It's a beautiful, historic old German town just northeast of San Antonio - you could certainly read the New Braunfels phone book better than me! <g>

New Braunfels is one of the best-kept secrets in the country. It's quite a tourist town. Also, there are various other German towns in the area, such a Gruene, Pfluggerville and Fredricksberg (near Luckenbach) - many others as well. The grand old German influence is still very visible, alive and well in these parts, even today.
