I know many people (and many innocent people) have died. I also understand that there is a battle going on for the greater good of mankind. I don't believe this is an oil fight. While I know we have a strategic interest in the oil I also know both we and the rest of the globe have a far greater interest in a stable middle east. I believe that can't be accomplished in a peaceful way because of the thousands of years of religious rule that has taken them to an extreme. While I don't want to impose my religious beliefs on them I do think we need to see a change in direction as it applies to the rights and freedoms of the citizens of the middle east. Having said that I find it as ironic as you do that war in the name of rights, freedom and religion is considered a means to an end. Thats a pretty tough pill to swallow. But I also know that if the situation is not rectified soon that these countries will have the technology to destroy us in the same way we *could* destroy them. That combined with a proven track record of religious extremism scares the heck out of me. At least with the Soviet Union they didn't believe that dying in war was a ticket to meet God. They viewed MAD as mad - in the same way we did. From a cultural standpoint I'm not sure the leaders of Iran, Syria, Iraq and some others along with the terrorist groups that inhabit and call those countries home place the same value on life. That uncertainty is very real and very scary. I'd like Iran to stand down right now. I don't want to have a war with them. But I don't believe that they have peaceful intentions with advancing their nuclear technology. They have all the resources they need right below them and yet the pursue nuclear power - thats a tough one for me to buy. I worry about that and the vacuum that in all fairness we have created in Iraq. I don't think the combination of a nuclear empowered Iran next door to a powerless Iraq is a good thing. There are reasons to worry. I want Iran to come to the table at once and to negotiate in good will. I don't want more war nor do I want their oil or to change their religion. What I want (as they want from us) are assurances that they will drop their nuclear ambitions and be a good global citizen. I think thats fair and reasonable. I want an end to terror for the entire world. If the countries of the middle east will do this and help distribute the wealth that oil revenues bring in to their people they can all become beacons of hope and prosperity. When that happens everyone will be safe and there will be no need for war. I will gladly pay 40-50 per barrel for oil if they as leaders would give the US and the globe those assurances. Thats fair and thats reasonable. If they are unwilling to do those things and they want me to turn a blind eye to potential trouble then they are asking me to stick my head in the sand and not look out for the best interests of my people and my country. They are asking me to be foolish. I will be none of the above. I will be fair and reasonable and if that works we may have lasting peace forever. Anything less and I'll be forced to take a route that I don't want to take nor does God want me to take. But I will be forced to set them back in a way that will prevent them from accomplishing their goals. The costs will be great in both money and lives. Neither country will have what it desires. But I will not turn a blind eye and risk the safety of my country and fellow countrymen. Come to the table in earnest and we can solve this today. Come to the table in a capacity thats less than earnest and *I* will solve this today - in a manner that will behoove neither country.

Be reasonable - be fair and we can live in peace and harmony.

Lets put the past behind us and work for the common good of man.

That my friend is fair and reasonable

You want fair and reasonable

Vote for a guy like me - Kerry was not the solution - he was more of the same.
