ASHBURN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 3, 1997--Coherent Communications Systems has announced the renewal of a worldwide agreement to supply
echo cancellation equipment to Cable & Wireless, continuing a long-standing relationship between the two companies. Under the terms of the agreement,
Coherent's market-leading EC-6000 Series 2 Digital Echo Canceller is to be supplied to Cable & Wireless' network of international operating companies, for
their expansion plans.

The agreement highlights the importance of the Company's strategic partnership activity. President and COO David Powell commented: ``We regard Cable &
