Walkingshadow, perhaps I should have said I don't short in my IRA's due to lack of knowledge. To date, I have just written out of the money covered calls on shares I want to keep for a core. Case in point, my SIRI core. IMO and from the last 2 years of watching SIRI, it cycles down after the Christmas season and has a run or 2 during the next 8 months. I wrote a lot of out of the money calls when SIRI was trading in the 8's and 7's. I have plans to take an online course on selling puts. I have heard that is possible in an IRA. Baby steps.....
