private home ownership If you want to see the hidden difference in our standard of living compared to Europe look at the homes we respectively own. By our standards, Europe is a "nation of huts." Our Elite sneer at our "McMansions," but the size and luxury of our housing today is terrific. All I have to do is compare the homes I owned with the ones my kids own. My oldest son's is worth at least 800K, and my daughter's is well over 1.5 Mil. Part of that is California land prices, but the homes are still outstanding. I wouldn't want them. Too big to clean.
