Condor, I think Gulf spent close to $3 million on their exploration programs and feasibility studies.

I think it was in the 1880's that this area was real hot for gold. In fact, the Drumlummon an underground mine 3 miles away, was the largest gold producer in the state up until the recent large open pit operations of Placer Dome and Pegasus. A lot of claims were brought to patent at that time. The patented claims are private land where surface and mineral rights are both held by the owner. This means that the only jurisdiction that requires permitting and bonding is the State of Montana. There is a provision in Montana that an operation with new surface disturbance of less than 5 acres be declared a small mine (whatever the production level). An exemption from permitting and bonding applies to small mines.

Theoretically, they could start tomorrow.
