Elmer, nice to see you agreeing with me. Despite saying it's a silly argument you now acknowledge that X3 will provide much less of a boost in performance for 8MB Potomac than it provides for 1MB Cranford. Besides this (as Doug keeps saying but was not my point) Potomac runs at quite a bit lower frequency than 1MB Xeons, which will also have influence on the deminishing performance increase when comparing the between X3 + 1 MB Cranford, and X3 + 8MB Potomac. Actually it's likely that Potomac will close to not be used in combineation with X3 because of this.

4 socket dual core Opteron HP 585 will outperform IBM 4-way X3 + Xeon when both are newly released, and by a large margin.
