"BTW, did anyone here of any cpu design tape out on 65nm from AMD or IBM?" IIRC, IBM did mention that a 65nm PPC has taped out. AMD hasn't mentioned anything, but they rarely do. There were those who were convinced Opteron hadn't taped out until the day AMD announced they had first silicon. In that respect, AMD manages news very poorly. Milestones like functional SRAMs, taping out, first silicon usually exist as a single line on a slide or an off the cuff remark in an interview with a foreign reporter. Intel always holds a press conference where they wave wafers around like giant, mutant potato chips. Often they will have several press conferences for various densities of the SRAMs. I dunno if AMD even has a taping out party for the(by then) severely sleep deprived engineers...
