From Fleck:

Hi Fleck
I am just wondering why would you tell the whole world you will be selling US dollar in the case of south korea? In the case of china and japan, I think they will only tell the world after the fact.

• Great question... here is my answer- they didn't know it would matter like it did, and it mattered just because the "ideas time had come"... the paper put out by the Koreans appeared to be some sort of bureaucrat to government type briefing... the FACT that the world siezed on it is the real news. I believe had that same info came out say two weeks ago, when the dollar was bouncing- it would have been ignored, as were other statement by other CB's... the Koreans had no clue markets would get so roiled... it was the response to this news that matters more than the news... it will put other dollar holders on edge...
